A large quantity of water was seen gushing towards Kalapuwa following the sudden erosion of the embankment surrounding the Ral Maduwa tank in Vanathavilluwa yesterday.
Director of the Agrarian Services Department in Puttalam Nayana Buddadasa said that an investigation will be launched into the incident.
The tank is said to facilitate the irrigational activities for more than a 100 paddy fields.
Former Minister and leader of the Eelam People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) Douglas Devenanada was arrested by the Criminal investigation Department (CID) today.
