An employee of a copper factory belonging to an Easter Sunday suicide bomber has been further remanded until May 30 by the Colombo Magistrate's court today (May 17).
Karuppaiah Rajendra Abdullah was arrested along with nine other employees at the copper factory of suicide bomber Inshaf Ahamed, following last month's terror attacks. The other employees have been enlarged on bail.
During todays' hearing, The officer-in-charge of Wellampitiya Police told court that the suspect had maintained close links with Inshaf Ahamed who was involved in the explosions at the Shangri-La hotel.
Court also heard that preliminary investigations have shown that the suicide bomber had provided Rs 200,000 for the marriage ceremony of the suspect. Cheques worth Rs 2.5 million each were also found in the possession of the suspect, police informed court today.
Meanwhile, Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage instructed the Police to submit a report on 10 phone numbers which had been frequently contacted by the suspect.
