European Union (EU) parliamentarians, Lord William Dartmouth and Geoffrey Van Orden, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Finance and Mass Media Mangala Samaraweera, at the latter’s office on January 02.
The two parliamentarians and the Minister exchanged views on matters of mutual interest while also agreeing to foster bilateral trade and tourism co-operation thereby increasing Sri Lanka's benefits from the EU's GSP+ facility.
The two MPs had visited Minister Samaraweera during their visit to Sri Lanka as members of the “Friends of Sri Lanka Group”.
Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrema, Secretary to the Treasury and Ministry of Finance and Mass Media Dr. R.H.S.Samaratunge, and Senior Adviser to Finance Minister Mano Tittawella were also present during the discussion.
