Former Chief Justice Shirani Badaranayake yesterday politely refused to take back her passport, when Colombo Magistrate Gihan Pilapitiya ordered the Courts to release her passport.
The case filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegation of Bribery or Corruption against former Chief Justice Bandaranayake was taken up for hearing yesterday before the Colombo Chief Magistrate Court.
The Commission alleged that the former Chief Justice had failed to include the details of Current Accounts she maintains with the National Development Bank in respect of the years 2010, 2011 and 2012 in her Assets and Liabilities declaration submitted to the Commission.
After hearing the submission made by Counsel Nalin Ladduwahetti, appearing for the former Chief Justice, the Magistrate directed that the Passport Shirani Bandaranayake be released. She then told court that she would take back her passport once she is freed from the case pending before courts against her.
The case was postponed until April 27 this year.
