The former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe appeared before the Commission of Inquiry probing into Easter Sunday attack today seeking for a postponement on the grounds that he was not well.
Mr Wickremesinghe testified before the commission for 70 minutes before he sought a postponement.
At the outset the counsel Roland Perera appearing on behalf of the former PM, informed the Commission that Mr Wickremesinghe was not well today. As a result the former Prime Minister was allowed to sit while he was testifying inside the witness box.
He said that he was not called for the Security Council from 2018 and pointed out that the presence of a Prime minister is important at such a meeting. Mr Wickremesinghe also elaborated that there were no minutes of the Security Council meeting since former PM Sirimoavo Bandranaike’s time.
He was ordered to appear before the commission again on Tuesday, October, 13 to continue his testimony.
