The body of an ex-Ports Authority employee who is believed to have been killed by his family members and buried in the backyard of his house in Kerawalapitiya, Wattala was exhumed today by the Police on a court order.
The body was exhumed after the family members – his wife, adopted daughter and son in law told the police on the location where he had been buried.
The family had initially claimed that the man identified as Hetithanthirige Walter, 65 had illegally migrated to Australia, but negibours claimed that they believed that he was murdered.
The 62 year old wife, 23 year old adopted daughter and her 32 year old husband have been placed under remand custody until May 18.
The body was handed over to the Ragama hospital for a postmortem.
