The Department of Excise states that it will take stern action against anyone found to be making posts and videos on social media on how to manufacture home-made alcohol.
Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Kapila Kumarasinghe told Times Online that the department is aware that certain individuals were sharing posts and even uploading videos online showing how to prepare certain types of alcohol.
He said one individual who had uploaded a video showing how to produce home-made alcohol has already been arrested. The suspect holds a degree in chemical engineering.
Mr Kumarasinghe stressed that they have already identified several other individuals who had also either uploaded posts or videos on how to make home-made alcohol and they too will be arrested.
