The bomb disposal team of security forces carried out a controlled detonation of a vehicle borne Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the vicinity of the Kochchikade Church a short while ago.
No casualties have been reported yet. Security forces have cordoned off the area in which the controlled explosion had taken place.
It is reported that security personnel had attempted to diffuse a bomb inside a vehicle which was parked in the vicinity of the St. Anthony's Gate 04 harbour entrance.
The vehicle is believed to have been used by attackers in yesterday's explosion at the St. Anthony's Church in Kotahena.
