The Prisons Department has granted five days for families to visit prison inmates in keeping with the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
Earlier, families were granted only two days including the Avurudu Festival day in order to visit inmates.
However, it was decided to extend this time period after considering the transportation problems faced by families.
Accordingly, the relatives of prison inmates will be able to visit from April 13 - 17, the Prisons Commissioner General said.
