A 44-year-old male has become the fifth person to die from COVID-19 in the country. The victim passed away this morning (4).
Health Services Director General Dr Anil Jasinghe stated that the deceased, a resident of Homagama, had returned from Italy and was at one of the quarantine centres.
He was admitted to the Welikanda Hospital on March 23 and transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on March 26.
The deceased did not have any underlying health conditions, Dr Jasinghe added.
