Finance and Mass Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera has put forward a letter to the Inspector General of Police requesting to conduct an investigate into the identity of the Co-ordinating Ministry Secretary who is reported to have been arrested along with underworld leader Makandure Madhush in Dubai.
Circulating reports have suggested that along with Madhush, the Minister's own media secretary, had been among those who were arrested this week in Dubai. The letter put forward by Mr Samarweera also referred to allegations that he had allegedly provided the suspect with a diplomatic passport.
Minister Samaraweera in his letter further said that the purpose behind those who put forward these allegations is to bring disrepute to his Parliamentary career which spans more than 30 years and to save those who are actually connected with drug trafficking in the country.
