Finance minister to present 2016 national budget at 2 pm

Sri Lankan Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake is due to present the government’s first budget at 2 pm on Friday in parliament with emphasis on cost cutting, reducing the budget deficit and raising revenues.
Earlier on Friday, Sunday TimesOnline reported several proposals to be announced in the budget including a decision to continue with VAT and not replace it with BTT.

Telephone and Internet charges are also going up while freight forwarding companies are to be given concessions. (See live budget blog which will be updated during the budget presentation) - ENDS -
