Finance Ministry, Additional Secretary, H.G Sumanasingha has been appointed as the Acting Director General of the Customs Department.
Earlier today the Sri Lanka Administrative Association (SLAA) said that it would stage a silent protest opposite the Finance Ministry against the appointment of the new Customs Director - retired Navy officer – Rear Admiral Shamal Fernando.
In addition, customs officers yesterday (Jan 30) refrained from duties from all stations - excluding the Bandaranaike International Airport owing to the new appointment.
