More than 500 acres of land at the Nonpareil forest reserve in Balangoda is reported to have been destroyed due to a fire which entered its third day today (Jul 30).
Meanwhile, the Navy undertook measures to deploy a Bell 212 helicopter to assist in fire fighting efforts this morning, Navy Spokesman Group Captain Gihan Senaviratne said.
