A firearm and some ammunition have been discovered at a land in Meegamuwa today (Apr 27), police said.
It is reported that the owner of the land had discovered the weapon and the ammo within a sack while cleaning the land.
Police who were alerted regarding the discovery had found two magazine pistols, 30 rounds of ammunition used in T-56 guns and 130 rounds of live ammunition inside the sack.
Several search operations are currently underway across the country.
