A fisherman who allegedly obstructed medical teams from obtaining samples to conduct PCR tests on fishermen at the Galle Fisheries Harbour was remanded till October 27 yesterday after being produced before the Galle Chief Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala.
Public Health Inspectors (PHIs) and other medical officials were engaged in obtaining PCR samples from fishermen in Galle in Rathgama on Saturday. The suspect is alleged to have arrived at the location and abused the officials in foul language and also spoke to the fishermen waiting to provide samples for PCR tests.
Galle police came and arrested the suspect after a doctor on the medical team complained to police that he was obstructing their work.
