UPDATE: The five youths arrested over the killing of the manager of a salon in Slave Island have been remanded until August 19.
The order was announced when they were produced before the Fort Magistrate’s Court today (Aug12).
Five arrested in connection to killing of individual down Muttiah Road in Slave Island
Five youth have been arrested in connection with the killing of an individual who was attacked in Slave Island, in the early hours of today (August 12), Police said.
According to the Police Media unit the individual who was was attacked at Muttiah Road in Slave Island, has been identified as a manager of a salon located at Staple Street.
Investigations have revealed that the victim had travelled to Staple Street at around 12.30am today accompanied by a young woman.
Thereafter, five youths that had witnessed the couple's arrival had begun teasing the woman. Police said subsequently an argument then broke out between the victim and the five others.
Following the brawl, the victim had sustained injuries and had passed away on admission to a private hospital in Kollupitiya
The arrested suspects ranging from ages 17- 24 are said to be residents from Union Place, Kandy and Polgasowita.
