Five eateries and two pharmacies face legal action in the North owing to the unhygienic preparation and sale of food and the recruitment of unqualified staff, the Northern Governor's office said today (Aug 20).
Raids had been carried out at 15 eateries and four pharmacies by Food Inspectors and officials attached to the Governor's Secretariat upon the directives of Northern Governor Suren Raghavan yesterday.
Officials had discovered that food had been prepared in unclean utensils at kitchens which were found in a filthy state. Steps had also been taken to dispose of all spoilt vegetables and unhygienic rotti which had been used in the preparation of food.
Meanwhile, two pharmacies will face legal action over the recruitment of unqualified staff, the Governor's office stated adding that raids would continue to take place across the North.
The general public too could inform the Governor's Office regarding the sale of unhygienic food on 021 221 9375.
