Five suspects including Perpetual Treasuries Ltd Chairman Geoffrey Aloysius, and former Central Bank Deputy Governor Paththinige Samarasiri have been released on bail after they were arrested over charges of involvement in the Bond Scam.
Mr. Aloysius and Mr. Samarasiri have been released on a cash bail of Rs 100,000 and two surety bails worth Rs 2 million each by Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne today.
Meanwhile other three suspects - Directors of Perpetual Treasuries Ltd. Pushamithra Gunawardena, Chitra Ranjan Hulugalle, and Muthuraja Surendran were ordered to be released on two surety bails of Rs 1 million each.
While delivering the verdict, the Magistrate had announced that the suspects would be released on bail since they had not absconded court, threatened the witnesses and caused panic among the public.
Further hearing on the case will take place before the Magistrate on April 30

The other suspects include three Directors of Perpetual Treasuries Ltd. Pushamithra Gunawardena, Chitra Ranjan Hulugalle, and Muthuraja Surendran.
They were arrested on March 25 at their residences by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and were remanded until today (April 05) by the Colombo Chief Magistrates Court.
