Five persons including two army officers have been remanded until September 25 for stealing firearms from a police station and opening fire at three policemen.
The suspects had been taken into custody for stealing two T-56 rifles from the Panadura (North) police station and for shooting at three policemen using the one of the firearm.
The police officers had been shot using a T-56 rifle while giving chase to three persons who had been travelling on a motorcycle without a number plate.
Police have charged the suspects under the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
Meanwhile, the three individuals who had been travelling on the motorcycle at the time of the shooting, have been ordered to be produced before an identification parade in due course.
