Flexible working hours will be introduced for the 41 public offices in Battaramulla with effect from September 18 Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka said.
He said that the they have planned to introduce of flexible working hours to limit the traffic congestion on the road at peak hours.
“ Under the previous government roads were improved and enlarged as a solution to minimize traffic yet due to the growing number of vehicles the effort was less sufficient even though 45 percent of government funds worth over Rs 1 trillion was spent”he said
Mr Ranawaka said that therefore they have planned to at least reduce about 250 vehicles coming into the road at a specific time by by making the government office hours to be changed per employee.
He explained that employees can report to work during 07.15 to 09.15 and can leave accordingly after 03.15 to 5.00 pm.
“ The administers of the government offices have to decide on a time schedule for each official and arrange a system where service can be provided from 7.15 am to 5.00 pm while all personal are obliged to be working during 09.15 am to 3.15 pm”he said.
He also explained the tree month trial will be implemented firstly and will be followed by a permanent programme island wide after reducing the practical issues that occur during the trial.
