The Irrigation Department has warned of flooding in the Millakanda and Pandugama areas due to rising water levels in the Nilawala and Kalu rivers respectively.
The Department also cautioned the public residing in the Matara, Galle Four Gravets, Thihagoda, Malimbada, Kamburupitiya, Athuraliya, and Pitabeddera divisional secretariats, on the rising water levels of the Nilwala river.
Meanwhile, the Boppe Poddala Divisional Secretariat has said that 10 houses were also reported to have been submerged in floods in the Narawala area. Flooding had also been reported along the Galle - Baddegama main road.
Against this backdrop, the Meteorological Department says that South - Western parts of the country are expected to experience showers in the coming days as well.
