Airport officials have warned the public that flying kites within a radius of five kilometres from both international and domestic airports would be considered a punishable offence.
H. S. Hettiarachchi, Head of Airport Management, explained that kite strings get entangled with the wings of an airplane, its engines, and other parts accessories on its body, thereby causing inconveniences for flights.
Accordingly, this regulation will be interesting effect around the Bandaranaike International Airport, Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport, and the domestic airports in Palaly, Ratmalana, Sigiriya, and Koggala.
