Former Prisons Commissioner Emil Ranjan Lamahewa who was arrested over the murder of 27 inmates at the Welikada prison in 2012 has been further remanded until April 16.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Priyantha Liyanage had ordered the suspect to be further remanded when the case was taken up before courts this morning.
Meanwhile, court also heard that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is conducting an investigation into the incident. Accordingly the Additional Magistrate informed the CID to submit a report on its investigations during the next hearing.
