A group of foreign representatives, including 33 Ambassadors and High Commissioners visited underdeveloped areas in the Poḷonnaruwa district yesterday with the aim of providing aid to developing these areas.
The delegation commenced their tour from the Medirigiriya, Meegaswewa area and they inspected the areas like Wadigawewa, Godapoththa, Palliyagodalla. President Maithripala Sirisena hosted a lunch for the delegation in Poḷonnaruwa.
Following the lunch hosted by the President the representatives, including Ambassadors and High Commissioners visited the Mahawelitanna village in the Welikanda Divisional Secretariat as well as the Sinhapura School and Muslim and Tamil villages in Kudapokuna.
According to the President Media Unit, thirty three Ambassadors and High Commissioners, including Japan, Netherlands, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Myanmar, Iran, Brazil, Korea, Italy, Pakistan, Egypt, Vietnam and Maldives joined in this tour. Local Government and Provincial Councils, Minister Faizer Mustapha has organized this tour.
