Foreign Minister Thilak Marapana will lead Sri Lanka’s delegation at the 18th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) in Azerbaijan this week, the Foreign Ministry said.
Marapana had also taken part in the Preparatory Ministerial Meeting leading to the summit, on October 21 and 22.
This year’s NAM summit is scheduled to be held on October 25 and 26 “Upholding the Bandung Principles to ensure concerted and adequate response to the challenges of a contemporary world”.
These principles revolving around sovereignty, non-aggression, non-interference in internal affairs, and equality, had been introduced during the Asian African Conference (Bandung Conference) in 1955.
