President Maithripala Sirisena has said that foreign security forces will not be allowed to enter the country during his tenure as President.
"Nowadays, some Buddhist monks claim that foreign military troops are attempting to enter Sri Lanka's territory. Our government has not taken any steps to allow such forces into the country," the President said.
He made these remarks while addressing an event to distribute Samurdhi concessions among 600,000 beneficiary families today (June 01).
Mr. Sirisena also proceeded to point out that liquor and tobacco are the root causes for poverty in the country.
"If there is anyone among families (at the event) who consumes liquor or tobacco, it must be stopped immediately. You will reap economic benefits by doing so in a similar way to obtaining Samurdhi concessions," the President advised the gathering.
