Former Defence Secretary Gotabya Rajapaksa and his wife who were on their way to Madamulana House in Hambantota in the early hours of today met with an accident at hakmana, informed sources said.
The vehicle that they were travelling in collided with a hand tractor and hit a tree. While Mr rajapaksa and his wife did not suffer any injuries some minor injuries were sustained by his driver who was taken to hospital.
Subsequently a second vehicle was dispatched to enable Mr Rajapaksa and his wife to continue on their journey, sources said.
