Former DIG Prasanna Nanayakkara was arrested this morning over the probe into the assassination of former Sunday Leader Editor Lasantha Wickrematunga by Criminal Investigations Department (CID), police said.
Mr Nanayakkara, who was then Police DIG of Mount Lavinya region suspected to have concealed critical evidence over the murder, according to police. He will be produced before Mount Lavinya magistrate today. The slain Editor of Sunday Leader Newspaper was killed on January 9, 2009 by unknown armed personnel near Mount Lviniya area.
