Former State Pharmaceuticals Corporation (SPC) Chairman Mohamed Rumy has been arrested after surrendering to the Criminal Investigation Department today (Dec 31).
This was in connection to allegations that he had paid two individuals for appearing at a controversial news conference organised by Parliamentarian Rajitha Senaratne.
The Colombo Magistrate's Court yesterday imposed a travel ban on the former SPC Chairman.
The news briefing organised by Senaratne during the run-up to the Presidential election was attended by two persons which included an individual claiming to be a "white van" driver during alleged abductions before 2015.
