Former State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran who was arrested today over a controversial statement pertaining to the resurgence of the LTTE has been granted bail by the Colombo Chief Magistrate.
Accordingly, she has been released on a personal bond worth Rs 500,000.
The case will be taken up before courts on December 07.

Former State Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran was arrested yesterday (Oct 7) by Police Organised Crimes Division over a controversial statement pertaining to the resurgence of the LTTE.
Police Media Spokesperson Ruwan Gunasekara said Ms Maheswaran was arrested after being summoned to record a statement pertaining to on-going investigation.
Ms Maheswaran is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Magistrates Court today (Oct 8).
