Four people including a Chinese couple have been injured in an explosion at a shop in the vicinity of the Kollupitiya roundabout at around 12:30 am in the early hours of today (Mar 08), Police said.
Police suspect that the incident might have been caused due to the explosion of a gas cylinder at the shop.
Two individuals identified as the owners of the shop and the chinese couple had suffered minor injuries, one of whom is currently receiving treatment at the Colombo General Hospital.
Eleven shops have been damaged due to the explosion, police noted adding that three shops had suffered severe damages as a result.
Colpetty police along with the Bomb Disposal Unit of the Special Task Force and Crime Scene Officers are conducting investigations into the incident.
