Four members resign from committee appointed to make recommendations on state-media

Four members have resigned from the committee which was appointed to make recommendations to transform state media into public service media institutions by former Mass Media Minister Mangala Samaraweera.

Professor Jayadeva Uyangoda, Anoma Rajakaruna, Kaushalya Fernando, and Attorney Sudarshana Gunawardena are the members who had resigned from the committee.

Vijayananda Jayaweera, Director (Retired) of the International Programme for the Development of Communication was appointed as the Chairman of the seven-member committee on February 11.

The members of the committee were as follows ;

• Dr. Pradeep Weerasinghe – Senior Lecturer at the Colombo University, Chairman of National Secretariat for Media Reforms
• Dr Anoma Rajakaruna – Film Director
• Justice Sudarshana Gunawardana
• Nalaka Gunawardana – Communications Advisor
• Kaushalya Fernando – Actress, Lecturer at the Sri Jayawardenapura University
