A multi-day fishing trawler that was allegedly transporting a stock of 'ICE' synthetic drugs was captured with the assistance of the Sri Lanka Navy near the Galle Harbour this morning (31) police stated.
Four persons who were in the vessel were arrested but one other person had escaped, police added.
Intelligence agencies had been tracking the vessel after receiving information that it had left Dikovita Fisheries Harbour in Ja-Ela. A navy vessel attempted to intercept the boat this morning off Galle Harbour, whereupon the trawler changed course and made its way to Jakotuwa beach near the harbour, where authorities managed to capture it.
