Four police officers have been interdicted over the recent clash between two groups in Hakmana, Kirinda, Deputy Inspector General of Police Vijitha Gunaratne said.
DIG Gunaratne explained that the work suspension had been imposed since the officers had absconded their duty of maintaining law and order during the clash last Friday.
Among the interdicted officers are three Sergeants and a Constable.
Meanwhile, the Matara District Superintendent has also been instructed to conduct an inquiry into certain police officers including the officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Hakmana Police station.
