Four suspects who were arrested for illegally excavating a site to extract artifacts will be produced before the Kekirawa Magistrates' Court today (Jan 29).
Kekirawa police who were tipped-off regarding the excavation had taken immediate measures to apprehend the suspects along with some excavation tools in their possession.
The suspects have been identified as 27, 43, 62, and 56 year old residents of Madatugama, Hingula, Avissawella, and Kegalle.

The United States has told Sri Lanka that the disposition of the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Bushehr and its crew is a matter for Colombo to resolve under its own laws and international obligations, while signalling it is in active talks with Sri Lanka to contain Iran’s threat to US interests.
The government today granted permission for an Iranian warship with 208 on board to enter the country.
