Four persons attached to a VIP convoy who were arrested for involvment in the assault of a van driver this week, have been remanded until July 22.
Two persons who had been travelling in the defender jeep involved in the incident, had been arrested after they surrendered before the Colombo Crimes Division today (Jul 20).
They have been identified as a 26-year old resident of Kalutara and a 44-year old resident of Thalgaswala.
Two others involved in the incident had surrendered before the police last night. This included the driver of the defender jeep and another passenger, police said.
Police had commenced investigations after individuals who were travelling in a defender and a prado jeep attached to a VIP convoy, had allegedly assaulted a van driver after overtaking the vehicle in Kalagedihena on July 16.
