A fundamental rights petition has been filed challenging the operation of Baqian Law Group Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. as a private Chinese law firm in Sri Lanka.
The petition was filed by Justice Nayantha Wijesuriya before the Supreme Court today (Jan 17).
Justice Wijesuriya in the petition had requested court to issue an interim injunction on the operation of the company as a private law firm. He claimed that advertisements of the company had been issued in violation of court laws.
The petitioner further claimed that local law firms were facing a threat due to the registration of this company.
