Funeral of Ex Polls Chief Chandrananda de Silva today
The funeral of former-Elections Chief, Defence Secretary and diplomat R.K.Chandrananda de Silva will be held on Monday, 23rd March at General Cemetery Borella. Crematorium at 5.30 p.m.
The Ex Commissioner of Elections passed away on Saturday (March 21) morning at the age of 78.
Chandrananda de Silva was appointed as the elections commissioner in 1982, Sri Lanka’s first presidential election as well as the first public referendum took place during his period.
The preferential voting system, which was introduced in 1988, was headed by him while he was later appointed as the Defence Secretary and also served as the ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.
