The G C E Ordinary Level examinations 2018 will commence today (Dec 03) and continue till December 12, Commissioner General of Examinations Sanath Pujitha said.
Issuing a press release, the Department of examinations said that 656,641 candidates will be sitting for the exam in 44661 examination centres across the country. The release further noted that 12 inmates at the Welikada and Magazine prisons will also sit for the examination.
Meanwhile, arrangements have been made to deploy one police sergeant and two constables for security at all coordinating and regional collection centres, police said.
Police patrols will also be deployed for security at all examination centres.
Arrangements have also been made to provide security while transporting exam papers throughout the country.
