Leader of the Pivithuru Hela Urumaya WPC member Udaya Gammanpila yesterday lodged a complaint with the Bribery Commission against President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The complaint was made based on a statement made by Sirisena who was the then Common Candidate on November 21, 2014 before the Presidential Election. He pointed out that Maithripala Sirisena had announced he would appoint Ranil Wickremesinghe as Prime Minister, once elected as the president. Gammanpila claims that according to the Presidential Elections Act, No. 15 of 1981, the promising of positions, issuance of positions and acceptance of positions to ensure victory at the presidential polls falls under the category bribery and therefore it should be investigated.
