A new system which would facilitate Sri Lankans living overseas to obtain their GCE O/L and A/L government certificates online will be introduced next month, Examinations Commissioner Sanath Pujitha said.
At present, Sri Lankans residing abroad who wish to have copies of their certificates have to visit the relevant authorities in Sri Lanka to obtain their attested certificates.
"From next month onwards, these certificates could be obtained by approaching the Sri Lankan diplomatic missions in foreign countries," Mr. Pujitha said.
He explained that diplomatic missions would co-ordinate with the relevant authorities in Sri Lanka and obtain the certificate which would then be sent to the recipient online. A charge would be levied for this service, the Exams Commissioner noted.
The examinations chief also said that talks were held with the Foreign Affairs Ministry over the last nine months for the implementation of this new system which would come into effect next month.
