The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) expressed severe concerns over lifting curfew for several hours in high risk areas to facilitate contact tracing and to prevent transmission.
Writing a letter to the Head of National Operation Center for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak,Secretary of GMOA Dr Haritha Aluthge said that lifting of curfew for several hours will reduce the benefits of imposing the curfew. "We strongly recommend to trace and bring back those who travelled outside these areas and also to trace their contacts outside with immediate effect,"
The GMOA also suggested exploring the possibility of further restricting mobility of people of the entire country except for necessary reasons.
The Medical Officers Union also observed a severe shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other protective equipment necessary for healthcare staff. "The supply mechanism for this crucial equipment is not at all satisfactory given the seriousness of the situation as well as our repeated representations regarding the issue,"
