Gnanasara Thera sentenced to 6 months in prison

Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera was today sentenced to one year Rigorous Imprisonment to be ended in six months by the Homagama Magistrate's Court for threatening Sandya Ekneligoda, wife of missing journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda.  

Homagama Magistrate Udesh Ranatunga also imposed a fine of Rs.3000 on Ven. Gnanasara Thera and also ordered him to pay Rs.50, 000 as compensation to Mrs. Ekneligoda. 

On May 24, the Homagama Magistrate's Court found the BBS General Secretary guilty of threatening Sandya Ekneligoda within the premises of the Homagama Magistrate's Court. His sentencing was announced today.
