An Indian national, aged 38, who attempted to smuggle in a stock of gold was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), local media reported.
Customs officials at the BIA said the stock of gold is valued at over Rs 3.9 million. The suspect was identified as a resident of Maharastra. According to reports the gold was painted in an attempt to disguise it as silver.
