The Government is considering a reduction in petrol and diesel prices as oil prices continues to dwindle in the world market, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday told Parliament today.
“Fuel prices in the world market are decreasing and it is unlikely this trend will reverse in the near future. We are considering reducing prices here too in keeping with this trend, he said.
The Prime Minister said this in response to a query by JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake as to why the government is still selling fuel at an enhanced rate when world prices have declined steadily.
