The government today (Aug 15) signed an agreement with Bell Geospace Ltd to conduct an air borne oil survey in Sri Lanka's waters for six months.
Cabinet approval had been granted to carry out a magnetic and gravity survey in order to explore mineral gas fields in the Mannar and Cauveri Basins.
Petroleum Minister Kabir Hashim had signed the agreement with Bell Geospace General Manager John McFarlane this afternoon.
