The government is considering a possibility of revising the recently amended fines for seven motor traffic offences which stand at over Rs 25,000.
Steps are being taken to hold talks with transport-related trade unions following stiff opposition raised over the amended fines, State Minister of Transport Ashok Abeysinghe told local media.
A few bus trade unions engaged in a strike action after the fines were gazetted by the Transport Ministry. However, bus owners and bus passengers association did not engage in the strike and reported to work.
