The Government Information Department has requested all media institutions to refrain from publishing photos or video footage of items detected during search operations including sharp weapons.
Nalaka Kaluweva, the Government Information Department's Director General, requested all media outlets to refrain from broadcasting visuals or publishing photographs of such weapons which include swords, and kris knives.
He made this request during a meeting with the heads of media institutions at the Government Information Department building this morning.
Accordingly, media outlets will only be permitted to broadcast or publish the details from the search operations which are released by the Police Media Spokesman, Mr. Kaluweva said.
