The government will construct flats comprising 10,000 housing units within the next two years, Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka said.
Addressing a business gathering today (Mar 05), he noted that families who were forcefully removed from squatter areas in Colombo, will be relocated in these flats.
"The government has constructed 15,000 housing units during the last three years to provide shelter to these families," the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development said.
Speaking further, he claimed that upto 90 percent of temporary dwellings in squatter areas would be removed as a result of this project.
